Researchers in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Asan Medical Center conducted a randomized controlled trial evaluating an artificial intelligence digital therapy for children with cerebral palsy. As reported by Korea Startup Post, the clinical study examined the GemGem400 hand-function rehabilitation program developed by GemGem Therapeutics. The study findings were published online on September 23, 2026, in the peer-reviewed journal Disability and Rehabilitation. [1]

The randomized trial evaluated a sample size of 45 children diagnosed with cerebral palsy, ranging in age from 18 months to seven years and five months. Korea Startup Post reported that the analysis showed statistically significant improvements in hand function among the participants who used the digital rehabilitation technology. [1]

Cerebral palsy refers to a group of movement disorders that manifest in early childhood, causing symptoms such as stiff muscles, weak muscles, tremors, and poor coordination. While these physical symptoms often become more pronounced during the first years of life, the underlying neurological condition does not worsen over time. [3]

The GemGem400 program uses artificial intelligence to assist pediatric patients with hand rehabilitation. The peer-reviewed study appeared in Disability and Rehabilitation, a journal published by Taylor and Francis that holds a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 2.2. [1]
